Patio Love

Although I know it is temporary, the weather the last couple days has got me dreaming of summer nights on a pretty patio. We love spending time on ours and usually enjoy our meals outdoors when the weather agrees. Right now it's pretty basic, but I've been blowing up my outdoor decor board on Pinterest with ideas on how to create an even more enjoyable outdoor space.  Pretty colors, soft textiles, happy lights, candles, climbing vines...dreamy right?

Turning any outdoor space into a comfortable place to enjoy is like adding another room to your home.  Even the smallest little space can be transformed into a private little retreat by using things like a privacy trellis and potted plants.  In a well covered area even using indoor furniture outdoors can add a unique and cozy touch.  Check out my "Outdoor Decor" board on Pinterest to see some more inspiration I have found.

Do you have an outdoor space you enjoy?

vDay mug swap

Alissa and Caroline had a fun Valentine's Day mug swap and I am so glad I participated!  They paired me up with the lovely Melissa from Truly Chic and we were instantly like long lost friends.:) Don't you just love it when you meet someone like that?  Yeah, she's pretty cool.  Super talented and smart too, so you should go pay her a visit.

This is what I opened up when my package came...so happy and fun, but it got even better!

By this point I was seriously giddy.  As a {sort of} grown up mom I am usually the surpriser of girly fun things, so you can imagine my excitement as I opened all of these pretties! I was so happy!

Melissa took the time to personalize it all just for me.  Check out the lace on my happy mug!  Yes, I will be hand washing my mug and leaving the lace on thankyouverymuch.  Because a coffee mug with flow-y pretty lace??  I now believe there is no other way to drink coffee. ;)

Sweet little tags, a pretty floral clothespin, a perfect sized notebook with an awesome quote...Oh, and do you see the little golden pony?  He is magical and I love him. :)

Thanks again Melissa...and Alissa and Caroline!

I had so much fun putting together Melissa's gifts too!  Hey, it's not too late to do something sweet for someone today...it feels as good to give love as it does to receive it. Any day of the year.

Happy Valentine's Day Friends!! I hope someone reminds you today how loved you are...

Coffee Date

If we were having coffee this morning
I would tell you...

I won a ticket to SNAP!! Wha??  I know. I am super excited/nervous.  I seriously have social anxiety and rarely put myself in situations out of my comfort zone. (like blogging;))  That is one of the main reasons I wanted to go.  To push myself and grow.  Also to learn and be inspired.  So, if you are going to SNAP let me know!!  I will be the shy girl in the corner by herself;)  Oh, & I don't have a hotel room either so I will be the room-less shy girl in the corner by herself. I best be figuring that out.

My bestest and I took my baby sis and her friends to see Ed Sheeran the other night. I love live music. It was really fun. I liked his music before, but I love seeing artists live...you get a whole other layer of their talent & artistic-ness as well as feel the energy & soul behind their music. He is one soulful, talented little fella.

Funny Confession Ecard: I went for a run today. It was a wine run, but I still broke a sweat. I believe that counts.

I need to get to the gym more.  I have been a total slacker in that area and it is really important for my overall well being to get my cardio in.  Getting on that today, dammit!

The other day my package came from Melissa for the Valentine Mug Swap!  I was like a little kid.  Seriously giddy and excited.   I can't wait to show off the thoughtful surprises she sent me.  I also had so much fun putting hers together.  It made me want to give everyone I know a Valentine's Day present!! p.s Melissa is awesome.

I am working on staying focused.  I get caught up in my thoughts and then I get overwhelmed and then I become paralyzed.  One more reason cardio is necessary in my life.

Having said that, I probably better finish up my coffee and get to the gym!

Thanks for the nice chat!;)
Have a great Friday. xo

loves {vintage florals}

^click for source^

my vintage floral love is not a new thing.
though lately, maybe due to the
{cold, dreary, deathly air quality} weather or
the never ending strain of illnesses we have all been enjoying,
my love has now become quite an obsession.

our home is pretty neutral with pops of color & patterns
here and there, but i find myself dreaming of vintage
floral fabric, wallpaper, drapery, dishes, paintings,
embroideries & quilts covering the entire house.

this seasonal depression better let up or
my mister might just come home one day to
a complete floral patchwork granny house.

i have actually found some fun vintage linens that
i am excited to incorporate in to brighten and lighten things up.
i will try to keep it under control though.  promise;)

November

The first day of November was...

A little girl excitedly counting down the days until her birthday.

An reminder of gratitude that can sometimes be lost in other months.

A certain tint to the afternoon sky.

One simple word that evoked the taste of turkey in my mouth and the overwhelming feeling of home.

And leaves floating effortlessly through the sky...

This happened to me twice yesterday. Two magical moments where time seemed to briefly stop. The ever so slightest breeze gently pulled the brightly colored leaves from their home above me. They circled through the air as if they were laughing and dancing before they gracefully hit the ground in a beautiful pattern along my path as if to say, "Happy November"

true story. :)

Cottage Love

I may need to start calculating
how much time I actually spend simply,
thinking. imagining. daydreaming.

I know it can definitely be
distracting am sure I could optimize
that time into some super productive-ness,
but I also know some of my best ideas
and inspiration come during this time.

Inspiration for
my family
my goals
my home
my business...
my dreams.

Lately my daydreams of cottages
have become more and more frequent.
I have always imagined living in
a cozy little cottage in the
middle of a big meadow or
on a quaint street
nestled in a massive amount of
trees surrounded by beautiful
mountains and countryside.
(oh and don't forget the stream!)

Just a nice stroll from a sweet
little town, where I purchase my
groceries from a family owned store,
and buy my produce from the local
farmer's market each weekend.

It used to be just a nice little thought
my mind traveled to,
but it has now become a serious thought.

To simplify,
to enjoy...
to escape.

My life is settling down a bit
after an interesting couple of years.

The most
challenging
humbling
growing
years of my life.

I find much gratitude in all I
have learned and experienced...
And the blessings we have received.

I have learned that life is priceless,
and being happy, doing what you love,
with those you love is most important.

That my be why the simple cottage life
is beckoning me.

Source: indulgy.com via Krista on Pinterest

Though it may not be absolutely possible
at this time to escape to cottage life,
there are things that I can do to
simplify and enjoy where I am at.

That just may be all my daydreams

{& my heart}
are trying to tell me.:)

4 {pretty} ways to organize your jewelry

1. what was old is new.  Re-purposing a cabinet or cupboard into jewelry storage is a fun way to house your goodies.  This is a dart board cabinet I turned into a jewelry organizer.  It not only displays and stores my jewelry but it looks pretty too:)

***If you'd like some tips oh how to create your own, I am sharing how I made it over at Rags to Stitches today!! Come see how this lovely looked in her previous life...

2. not just in the kitchen. Using vintage kitchen items such as pretty bowls, plates, tea cups or tins is another decorative way to keep your accessories contained.  Here I've used vintage baking tins.  I love the shape and detail of them.  Hold your bracelets, watches and rings in the center then hang your earrings around the edge.

3. lazy all the way. This is a pretty vintage lazy susan relish tray my grandma gave me.  I love the look of it, but didn't use it much. It is perfect to keep smaller pieces, like rings and earrings separate and you can give her a little spin to easily get to what you need.  I see similar wood pieces like this with compartments, all the time at thrift stores.

4. stack 'em high.  Here I have stacked my bracelets and cuffs on a replica antique spool candle holder.  Using spools like this or any candle holder keeps your arm candy nicely displayed together.

Displaying jewelry like this not only keeps it organized so you can see what you have, but it becomes art or decor itself.  Why not display our pretties even when we aren't wearing them?  ...Do you have any creative ways you display or store your jewelry? I'd love to see!
