it's me

I decided to take some new pics since my hair is now back blonde...My hair has been dark (the first time in my life) almost 8 or so months.  I started this blog and my new shop almost a year ago, so most my pics associated with Rustik Chic are with my dark hair.

You may be thinking, so?  But I am weird.  I feel like that person with the dark hair, although I really did like it, isn't me. I told you. WEIRD.  I started having almost like an identity crisis.

Just kidding.

Kind of.

It could be partly do to the fact that over the last 8 months I have been completely unrecognized by friends and people I have known for years.  For real.  Like totally walked past me and then, I would have to say things like, 'hey it's Krista', or 'you probably don't recognize me with my dark hair'  Then they would get all embarrassed and I would do my overcompensating thing so they wouldn't feel dumb..."haha, aww, don't feel bad..it's ok, really no one recognizes me! hahahahahahaha"

Also now that my dark is gone the truth is coming out from my lovely girls...'Oh, you look so much happier blonde, your dark hair made you look sad' and 'Mom, I think you look so much younger with blonde hair'  Gee, thanks for letting me know that I looked like a depressed middle aged woman.;)

Wow, this is probably opening a whole new perspective for you of my over analytical craziness.

In all seriousness though, my opinion is that the only thing that matters is how we feel.  I've said it before about clothes and trends..trying to force things that are not authentically you. Although it can be fun sometimes to try totally different things...  When you dress, or style your hair, in ways that make you feel good and feel like "you", then people pick up on that self confidence, self expression, and authentic-ness...and that is attractive.

I have always LOVED rich dark beautiful hair colors!! I have just now learned that I love them on other people better.:)

Anyway, I really just wanted to fill you all in that I am in fact blonde in case you were confused if you follow me on instagram or twitter OR, see me around with some fun new stuff I'm working on...???? :)

It's me, {blonde} Krista.

P.S  Have you ever changed up your hair and felt off?  Feel free to let me know so I know I'm not alone...;)

linking up...

  1. I know for sure I couldn't dye my hair blond! I wouldn't feel like me at all--actually I've never totally dyed my hair, and I don't think I'd like to. I'm up for fun styles or fancy hair clips that I can take in and out, but I like to keep my natural hair color, I think it's definitely the most 'me'!

    1. Yeah, there are so many fun temporary options out there...it's fun to play! I never thought changing my hair color would affect me like that...so weird;)

  2. I got those exact same comments when I went from brunette to blonde! It made me feel a tad insecure and I'd like made a big mistake. But before those comments, I loved it and felt like me, so I held on to that feeling. At the end of the day if you love your hair, then that's all that matters (as it is on your head lol) ... even if those pesky comments nag at the back of your mind.

P.S: You look beautiful as both a blonde and a brunette in my opinion :)

  4. This cracked me up. You're so cute. I really love the dark hair, but you look awesome with both. (But, that's the first way I knew you) ps, if you want me to redo your "hello photo" with a blonde pic, just let me know. ;)

  5. YES! You are not alone! I am normally a blonde with little freckles even that showed up (I'm almost thirty, gasp, never thought I'd actually type that, ha ha). Anyway yes, I come from a family of ravishing lovely brunette sisters and here I was. Blonde, very Scandinavian looking. So I took it upon myself to see if I could darken my blonde without damaging my hair. I've been doing this darker thing since March of this year and didn't realize until just this weekend that my hair color choice has really made me unhappy! So yes, back to my blonder blonde I go! Good job for recognizing your true self. It's hard sometimes to even accept that those beautiful darker tones are still something that we can love but love on OTHER people. Like sisters, in my case. :-)

    Thanks Krista!
